Negative space is the extra space that is surrounds the main subject in an image. Often photographers spend a lot of time thinking about the subjects that they are photographing , such as posing portrait subjects, positioning them in the shot, getting them exposed correctly, etc, etc. We use it to see shapes and sizes more effectively, and produce better composed images. However the space around your main subject is just as important, it can make or break your image. Negative space can bring a sense of balance to your image, it can strengthen composition, it can help draw the eye to the subject and give it more power and it can add a lot of interest to your shot. Negative space is used commonly in portraits and landscapes, but can be found in any field of photography.

For my negative photography project I would either like to:
* Bring in a prop to photography such as a stuffed animal, book, etc., etc.
*A facial close up
*A poster/photo
*Flowers/shrubbery
*One of the banners that are hung up around the campus

I would like to either:
*Take a photo of a prop brought from home
*A photo of friends
*A photo of a building or flag?

            Over these past five weeks, I have come to learn much more about the world of photography than I thought I would in this short amount of time. By combining new and old techniques Mr. Sandoval has taught us, make our work stand out much more in our individual works. So far my favortie lesson we have worked through has been the Trianimal and Silhouette photography. The trianimal was a great way to hone in on our photoshop skills and a fun way to show a little bit of ourselves to the rest of the class. I have always loved how silhouette photography looks so I was really excited to work on it both in, and outside of class. I really look forward to our upcoming lessons and seeing how I will be able to further myself positively and efficently  in the the class and in my photography during my personal time.

Cubism is a style of art which shows all possible viewpoints of a person or an object all at once. It is called Cubism because the subjects represented in the artwork or  photo look like they are made out of cubes and other geometrical shapes. Cubism was first used by Pablo Picasso and Georges Bragque. There are many differnet kinds of cubism, such as Analytic Cubism. Most analytical Cubists painted and drew in only one color so that the person who was looking at the painting would’nt focus their attention to the color, but only to the shapes and the forms that were being shown. Now, we use cubism in photography adding a historic trick to our modern art forms.

For the cubism project I will either edit a photo of my friends, a flower, or a sign

            Commercial photography is the use of photography to advertise merchandise a company is trying to sell. Commercial photography can be found in magazines, menus, and corporate brochures. When advertising a product line or specific product, photographers tend to focus on the products specific design that makes it unique to other similar products, or the usage of the product. When taking the taking commercial photography, it is important to magnify the detail and feel of the merchandise to the viewing customer as well as the status and main attractions of that product. Commercial photography is not only used for merchandise, but for promoting businesses, food photographs for menus, used in fashion photography, and portrait photography as well. Each subsection of this wide spread style of photography brings their own unique and interesting twist on how to attract someone’s eye to the lastest product on the market. Commercial Photography is a great way to  help society and the economy in the business world.
